Hold on to your hats, all football and Singapore fans, because the Singapore Under-16 Women’s National Team put on an absolute clinic at Jalan Besar Stadium last night, delivering an unforgettable performance to secure their first international home win in style, beating Turkmenistan with a phenomenal 7-0 victory. The 1,531 ticket-holders in attendance were on the edge of their seats cheering hard as they watched the U-16 Lionesses dominate from the first whistle, producing an attacking masterclass that left their opponents reeling.

Captain Natasha Nazsri set the tone early on, breaking the deadlock with a stunning curling shot in the 10th minute, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Despite some strong saves from Turkmenistan's goalkeeper, Karapetyans Amaliya, the U-16 Lionesses continued to press forward relentlessly, their attacking prowess proving too much for their opponents.

Chloe Koh was next on the scoresheet, darting past two defenders before firing home to double Singapore's lead in the 26th-minute. The match went into half-time with the U-16 Lionesses leading Turkmenistan 2-0.

The second half saw the U-16 Lionesses come out even stronger, with the intensity ramping up as they looked to add to their tally. In the 52nd minute, Turkmenistan suffered a huge setback when defender Gayipova Madina was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving their team with 10-women in the second half. The U-16 Lionesses quickly capitalized on the advantage less than eight minutes later, with Chloe Koh confidently lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper for a clinical finish to make it the scoreline 3-0.

The goals just kept on coming in the next few minutes, with substitute midfielder Nahwah Aidilreza getting in on the action in the 62nd minute, converting Chloe's pass and scoring Singapore's fourth goal. Striker Cara Chang made it 5-0 a mere two minutes later, curling a beautiful shot into the far-left corner of the net with the help of Ardhra's assist.

Alas, the Lionesses were not done yet. In the 83rd minute, Nahwah made her way past two Turkmenistan defenders before slotting the ball into the open net to make it 6-0. Three minutes into extra time, Cara chipped the ball over Amaliya after a sublime pass from Nahwah to complete her brace and secure Singapore's resounding 7-0 victory.

Singapore U-16 Women's National Team has finally broken their long-awaited victory drought with last night's incredible performance. It's been almost two decades since they last tasted success in this tournament, which was still called the AFC U-17 Women’s Championship back in 2005. With this epic 7-0 triumph over Turkmenistan, the U-17 Lionesses have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with. And there's more good news - Singapore is now at the top of Group D, with one goal difference separating them from Bangladesh. With just one more game left to play, a draw is all they need to secure their place in Round 2 of the qualifiers, which promises to be yet another thrilling affair later this year!

With the U-16 Lionesses' first home win sure to go down in the annals of Singapore's Football history, the stage is now set for the upcoming sold-out match between Singapore and Bangladesh at Jalan Besar Stadium this Sunday, 30 April 2023

If last night's crowd-pleasing match is anything to go by, fans are in for a spectacular.
